~tips tuesday~

Tiny Sweet Peaz

 Try scheduling your photo shoot around your baby’s naps and feeding times. Suggested items to bring are a large baby blanket in white, cream, or a gender-oriented color (textures make for interesting photos),  wipies and/or burp clothes in case of spitting up, toys that they like, attention getters (noise makers)  I will probably photograph some of your little one’s pictures in his or her’s diaper, however feel free to bring an outfit or two and accesories (i.e. hairbows, hats) for variety in your pictures. A favorite stuffed animal or toy can also be incorporated into some of the shots. I also like to include mommy and daddy in the pics, so wear coordinating clothing (whites or neutrals are preferred). And don’t forget the pacifier!

 CHEESE!

Child / Family Sessions

Make sure your little guys and gals are well fed before the session and bring along snacks to curb hunger pangs. Snacks that DO NOT make messes. Dry cereal, pretzels.. etc. At this stage your child is a bundle of energy and probably doesn’t like to sit still. No worries, I prefer tagging along after them and capturing them at play in a totally natural, unposed environment. When photographing a family with little ones, its VERY important to have everyone looking and smiling at me—READY for the shot- I will get the little one to look and smile- but I need YOU to be ready when I get it…otherwise, you will be looking at the baby and they will be just right. Be creative and feel free to bring along props such as a kiddie-sized chair, tricycle, favorite toys, blanket to lay on the grass and so on. Two or three outfits with accessories are suggested, or outfits with layering options. If a family session, while not everone has to wear the same colors, make sure your outfits don’t clash. Bring bubbles, noise makers… may not hurt to even bring a “prize” for the little ones to be rewarded after a great session!! Trust me, I want your session to be relaxed, successful and most of all, FUN!

 Family

Couple Sessions

Whether newly engaged or married for 12 years, couple sessions are the pefect way to capture the love you both share. Decide on the look and feel of your session and dress accordingly. For a more casual, relaxed feel, a pair of jeans and nice top are perfect. For a romantic, vintagey feel, a dress and heels for her and slacks or jeans with a button-down shirt for him are encouraged, barefoot is an option too! Choose clothing in complimentary colors and feel free to bring outfit changes or layering pieces (i.e. jackets, hats, scarves, jewelry, hair accessories). Again, be creative: choose a location that is significant to both of you and feel free to bring along props that signify your personalities. Into music? Bring your instrument or Ipod. Coffee lovers can bring their favorite mugs. An outdoor loving couple can bring a picnic basket, bottle of wine or juice and wine glasses. Or how about an old bicycle? There, do we have your creative juices flowing now? Be ready to smooch alot, hold hands and display all-around mushiness!

 In Love

Don’t worry about that bump or scratch.. most flaws can be corrected, self conscious about that smile? I can whiten teeth or sometimes fill in a gap! That wraps it up for TipTuesday! Just remember, its all about having fun and being yourself…relax, be natural and SMILE!

~what to wear Wednesday~

As my fall portrait schedule fills up,

I keep on getting asked the same questions “what should we wear?” “do you have any suggestions on clothing?”

And I am so glad I’m asked! Your portraits are important to you and an investment you make to cherish for a lifetime. They will reflect not only what you look like today, but also the era, the generation, and your family’s unique personality.

I strongly suggest the use of color in my outdoor portraits as I find the end result much more eye-catching then the traditional look of everyone matching. There is a HUGE difference between coordinating your outfit with complimenting colors compared to everyone in all white shirts and jeans or all black shirts with khakis. Don’t get me wrong, these outfits are truly classic, but if different & modern is what you are looking for… add some color!  When picking colors that compliment and styles that coordinate with each other, I believe it creates depth and separation between the family members, while still weaving them together to create a cohesive look. Check out this complete ensemble I found while searching online, perfect examples of the right way to dress for your session with me. (Old Navy)

Pink, black & white

My personal tip is always- choose 3 colors and mix match them up. This example is Pink, White & Black. Dont forget to accessorize!!  Hats, scarfs, necklaces, hair bows and/or ribbons.  I suggest one print, but try to stay away from stripes.

~try it…you’ll like it~

“The rarest thing in the world is a woman who is pleased with photographs of herself.”

~~~~~
Oh my word! How true is that?? You can’t imagine how often I hear the words.. “I hate taking pictures” – “I never take a good picture”— “I look horrible in pictures” The funny thing is that these same women, after I have taken their pictures, say “Oh my… I love it!”— “Look at me, I look great!”—- “I love my pictures!”
Now be honest… you know who you are and you know that I am telling it like it is. You are who you are and pictures reflect that. We all have flaws that we would love to change, but we all have great features that suit us just fine. My goal is to help to minimize the flaws and accentuate your best features. Most photographers don’t take the time to find out what you want and how you feel before sticking a camera in your face and snapping away. Some photographers just don’t have the “eye” for it.
This is actually the best part of being a photographer, to me. Seeing the shot before I even take it. Knowing just the right angle is most flattering, yet still capturing YOU as you really are. This is not only for us women, but children as well. What most damaging time in your life than being a kid that is made fun of because of being too tall, too freckled, too chubby? To top it all off, you have the pleasure of being reminded of this every time you look at the most unflattering “school picture” ever taken and it follows you thru life!  Then you end up being one of those adults that HATE having pics made of your self, there fore you have nothing to show your kids and/or grandkids for that matter. And tell me, who doesn’t long to have photos of their parents and/or grandparents in their younger years? See? Pictures are IMPORTANT and most important is to have pictures that you actually like seeing and sharing of you and your family.
  Ok, so with all of that being said……….. I will share with you a few pics from a session that I did very different from anything I have done in a long time. While these two felt too old, fat & ugly to have a photo session… I have to say that they were far from too old, fat and ugly and I can bet you that their kids and grandkids will absolutely cherish these for a very long time! Thanks Mr. & Mrs. Harris for letting me capture you both…
~back on the wagon~
Ok, so maybe I was never really “on the wagon”. But I used to be a really avid blogger. I find something I like & I stick with it….well, at least for a while….ok, so as long as it usually lasts. I was trying to keep up with blogging on myspace, posting sessions here, twittering along, facebooking it, my website, and fan page…. WHEW! I dont think I can really do it all…but I tried. Did I mention that I work full time and have 2 boys at home with 2 dogs and a cat?? Ok, so I was juggling a bit much. I dont myspace anymore, I am going to start back on my blogging and just incorporate it on here with my sessions… HA! kill 2 birds with one stone… now THAT I can do! My twittering? Well, facebook has a really nifty feature that automatically updates my twitter when I update my status on facebook….now, talk about best thing since sliced bread! I know.. I know, I am probably boring you to tears, I am pretty good at that. Trying to multi-task as usual. While I type this I am also editing, uploading, checking email, facebooking & waiting on the boys to get home from church. Oh, and I have a load of laundry in the washer to put in the dryer and need to start another load!~~~~~~> 20 minutes later- Put clothes in the dryer, started another load, boys are home and in the bath tub– Just finished 2 family sessions! Whew… I have accomplished quite a bit tonight. Gonna leave you all with a few pics to enjoy!
~Speaking of Miniature~
Just trying to catch up here on my session blogging….so please bear with me. First session I want to share with you was taken of a sweet 16 year old girl from Pennsylvania! Can you believe that she found me online and LOVED my work, so she did the only thing that would have seemed logical… She caught the first flight to Louisiana and off we went to the SunValley Miniature Horse Farm in Choudrant. Ok, dont believe me? Would you believe that she was a visiting niece of one previous session I did for little Ms. Alyssa a couple months back? Yeah, that is more like it! Anywho… Taylor was quite the country girl and it shows. She loved the farm and horses…it was BEAUTIFUL there and I will certainly be going back for more sessions! Thanks Mr & Mrs Waller!
Taylor
Now for Mr. Truett… this little bundle of joy was a first for Jamie and Sam. He was only 2 weeks old when I took these and soooo tiny! They grow way too fast and you know I am a sucker for boy mama’s…. My gosh, Jamie is back to work and Mr. Truett is going on nearly 4 months now! He is a big boy and just precious! We need to get another session with him now that he is in that really cute cooing and smiling stage… Enjoy this little man… he will be grown before you know it!
~Meet the Johnson family~
I met up with this beautiful family one Saturday morning at ULM. We were trying to beat the heat, but this time of year, that is hard to do! That didnt stop us…we just jumped in and got it over with. We had a great family session and here are the pictures to prove it!
~mr and mrs dunlop~
I love these two! It was awesome shooting their engagements and I really enjoyed being a part of the wedding. Their families are the best & the memories will be around for years! I always say that no wedding is perfect… no matter how big or small.. something seems to happen. It just is. To start off with, Lindsey had to make a Wal-mart trip before arriving at the church & she locked her keys in her vehicle! Her bridesmaids were with her, so they were held up for about an hour! Then as the precious flower girl went down the aisle.. she made it about 1/4 of the way down …..all of her petals were on the floor, the basket is empty, she throws it on the floor and proceeds to lay out flat on her tummy in the petals on the floor and “swim” in them! As the doors open and the bride heads down the aisle, little miss never misses a beat! She continues to backstroke in the petals and what is Lindsey to do when she gets to her??? Well, the only thing a bride could do.. she stepped right over her and kept on going!! Yes, it was hillarious! I love this job… I really do!
Enjoy a little sample from the Dunlop family from Minden…
~blush & bashful~
I had the pleasure of shooting Whitney and Skylor’s wedding May 23 in Natchitoches Louisiana.
The picture-perfect small town featured in the Julia Roberts film Steel Magnolias is actually Natchitoches, La. Visitors and locals alike stroll along Front Street, a 33-block cobblestone thoroughfare in the historic landmark district. It is dotted on one side with vintage homes (and their wrought-iron balconies), churches, restaurants, and shops, and it overlooks CaneRiverLake on the other.
Her colors were pink, pink & more pink! It was beautiful and so was Whitney! She is the niece of a friend/co-worker of mine and was just the sweetest southern gal I have ever met… My husband, Robert went with me to help out and we had a great time with their family! Here are a few of my favorites from that special day. Hope you enjoy….
Whitney & Skylor “pic’d” most charming couple!
~cozumel~
Cozumel
Ok… so I have been MIA for a little bit. Yeah, I have to admit that Calgon took me away to Cozumel along with 3 of my friends. Unfortunately it brought me back way too soon! We did have a great time. Between the 4 of us we took well over 600 pics… of course a lot of those were duplicates, but they were all good. I really wanted to bring my good camera along with me, but I didn’t want the headache of taking care of it. I just used my trusty elcheapo point and click.
I want to thank all of you that took the time to vote for me as Best of Delta 2009. Was an honor just to have been nominated, not to mention still a big surprise! I have no idea how/who nominated me, but thanks!!! Be sure to get the August 2nd issue of the News Star.. they will have a special section announcing all nominees and of course the winners. I am anxious to see my “TwoPeaz” printed up like the big time… lol
Also, I am taking a plunge into radio advertisement with Star 101.9 beginning Monday July 27th, so be sure to tune in for the next 4 weeks to hear the “commercial” and try to win one of the 4 photo sessions that I am giving away! I am super excited about that!!
Enjoy the vacation pics and don’t forget to schedule your Senior 2010 session soon. The holidays will be upon us once again, sooner than you think. I will be running specials, so be on the look out!
The category is Best of Professional Services and service is photography. PLEASE spread the word, I have NO clue how businesses get in the running for this honor, but TwoPeaz made it and I would love to get as many votes as I can….. Thank you so much for helping me to get this far!
~stormey weather~
Courtney and I spent several hours in this crazy weather! What am I talking about you ask? A “be glamorous” session that we had a few weeks ago with a friend of mine, Stormey. She was a mess and you could tell she had alot of fun… not sure if she had as much fun as Courtney and I did. I cant even begin to tell you how many shots were taken between the two of us… waaayyyy too many to even edit! Honestly, there were not very many that even needed to be edited. Here are just a few that she would let me post…..there were so many more that were even better, if you can believe that! Thanks Stormey for a great night… hope your honey pie enjoys!
My blossoming photography
Every picture I shoot teaches me more and more about GREAT photography. I love shooting a “story”. Sometimes I can look at a picture that I took and say WOW… now that is a really awesome shot! I love angles, unimaginable locations, color, naturalness (is that a word) Seems each photo is better than the last. Of course with the technology we have today for digital pictures and enhancements…its almost impossible to take a bad photo.. Ok, so maybe not everyone has the “touch”, but at least you are able to view the photos before you print them, unless you are still shooting with film. Enough rambling, I will share some photos with you that I shot last weekend of a friend of mine that will be surprising her husband with very soon! This was alot of fun for both of us….
Run a way bride
I love this picture…of course, it says a thousand words..don’t you think?
Damsel in distress...
How fun was that?!
Natural close up
Now, this is beatiful!
Funny, we had well over 200 shots… all great! We have scheduled our annual family Christmas photo shoot for November 23rd at Biedenharn Museum & Gardens in Monroe. We should have time for more family shoots if anyone is interested. Email me at – memorymi74@yahoo.com
Everybody and their Mama
My photos are more about me than they are about the people I photograph. Seems everybody and their mama are photographers now a days….or want to be. To be honest with you, anyone can take a picture…but it takes a lot more to capture a moment. I have visited many awesome photography sites online of some absolutely awesome photos taken by talented photographers. The possibilities are endless of capturing moments of everything from everyday life to a birth of a child and walking down the aisle dressed like a princess. Memories are priceless, but everyone wants to be able to afford keeping them in an album, frame and/or scrapbook. Let me know what you think… please share your thoughts, comments and suggestions.. I look forward to any excuse that gets me out there behind the camera! Nothing is too crazy or off the wall…. Besides, I could use the experience!
Drum roll please……………………..
What a great family to start my Christmas sessions with! Lacy, Daniel and Caden were absolutely wonderful to shoot! Of course, Lacy is gonna make sure all are looking the part and doing it pretty dang good. Enough rambling… I will let you see for yourself and tell me what you think!
What a beautiful day it was for shooting…the wind was a little much, but the job was done! Miss Avery and mom Mickey joined me for a really sassy shoot all over town. Took us about 2 hours, 4 locations and Lord knows how many changes of clothes. What a great time it was for us all! Thanks to Cindy at Southern Creations in Rayville for letting us use their beautiful porch… I will certainly be shooting there again. I have been waiting on this shoot very anxiously for a couple weeks since Mickey had contacted me about her plans to get Miss Avery all girlied up and take pictures! I dont have a little girl.. so this was alot of fun for me. Let me just tell you, this little misses was somewhat unsure at first… but it didnt take long at all before she was really working it for the camera. She had a blast and her photos show it very well! To be honest with you….I couldnt get these photos posted fast enough…. so, enough rambling… Hope you enjoy!
~Looking alot like Christmas~
Honestly didn’t think I would be posting this for a few reasons…. #1 rain was in the forecast for Sunday and it was raining when I left church. I was really worried my holiday shoots were going to be rained out. It showered lightly for a little bit and then cleared up.. YAY! The sun actually peeped out a couple times, but the most part was a little cloudy. That was perfectly fine, especially since I had my new flash and lens.. WOO HOO! There were 6 families to show up for holiday photos, not counting my own family of 9 which included me, Robert, Blake, Hunter, Dakota, Hayden, Nevada, Montana and Grammie. Shanna had about 3 families scheduled, so the day was pretty filled up. Courtney showed up to try out her new camera and help me out. What a relief that she was there and a ton of help! Everything went really well and it didn’t take me long at all to get the photos downloaded, sorted, proofed and enhanced. Now for the hard part…. It took about 12 hours to upload the photos proof books to the lab and until that was finished, I couldn’t do anything online… so getting this posted was quite a challenge! I have been anxious all day to get these pics up for a sneak peak of my 2nd holiday shoot…. So I will quit rambling and “show off” a little bit.
Hope you enjoy… please feel free to leave a comment or two and let me know what you think!!
**Just a little addition to this post since I was so rushed to get it up last night and didnt get to bed until 11:00…I know, I am just too passionate! I had a wonderful time with all of these families and found it very difficult only choosing 2 photos from each session to post. I am hoping they all love the finished shots, spread the word and call back for more! Thank you all for sharing your beautiful family and time with me… looking forward to meeting you all again, soon!**
~Big things in small packages~
Well I have to say that spending an hour and half with this beautiful family was far more work than I expected! Regina and her mother brought along Zoe and Mathew for some holiday pictures. Regina and I went to school together and has been years since I last saw her… I have to say she is just as gorgeous as ever. It was great seeing her after all this time and meeting her little ones. We started off at Southern Creations inside and out. What gorgeous fall and Christmas decor Cindy has used to make us feel right at home! Next, we went to “The Franklin’s” home, one of the most unique and beautiful homes in town. While little Mathew kept me moving non-stop…. Miss Zoe was really putting on the moves like modeling was just second nature and was pretty good at it if I do say so myself! By the time we got a really good work out, we were off to the playground for some really fun shots. I must admit that out of 285 photos that I took, I managed to get 67 really awesome memories captured and I enjoyed every minute of it! Thanks Regina and Ms. Charlene…..
Mother & Daughter
No doubt where Regina gets her beauty…
Sweet Kisses
Enough to make any mother’s heart melt….
Blue & Green Eyes
Sweet and innocent….. ok maybe just sweet…
Miss Zoe
~Brrrrr in the garden~
What a windy & cold day for being at the gardens! I was really worried about the weather for today… Robert said it was going to be sunny and gorgeous… but, it was windy and COLD! Thank goodness it stayed dry and inside the gardens, there wasnt much wind. Robert tagged along with me to “help out”…god love him. I think he was basically there for moral support and nearly froze his bony butt! But, he didnt fuss a bit. We had 3 families show up as scheduled and I got LOTS of great shots.
Sibling love
Faces only a mother could love….
It was off to Biedenharn again for 3 awesome families to make some memories. This first couple kept it simple for me and even came up with a few poses of their own. ~Wiggers is done!~
Karl, that is! Courtney and I met Karl & his mother Karla on Monday for his senior shoot. We started out on Antique Alley and ended up on the other side of the river by the time we finished. The weather was GREAT & I was worn out! (Note to self: pack along a bottle of water) Between Courtney and myself, I think we took about 700 pictures for an end result of 127. Let me just say that we shot till we dropped & we got some good ones if I must say so myself! Honestly, it was tough choosing what to post for your sneak peek…. Karla is an awesome mother and it shows! She was up for anything and just tagged right along with us. We laughed and joked around…. hey, I think Karl even had a good time. I have worked on getting these done for 3 nights and it was worth it. I was anxious to get this posted and his album uploaded for proofing on my TwoPeaz website. A special thanks to Courtney for putting up with me for nearly 3 hours… Thanks Karl and Karla… we had a great time and I hope you enjoy your photos!
One of my faves
I love the up above angle shots… can’t you tell? Forgot my step stool this time!
Mangham Dragons!
You know I am a fan of the rail road… Got to love that Dragon Pride!
The Cotton Gin
The cotton gin was being boarded up as we shot these on the inside…. I am thinking we may have to break in next time.
The Ruins
I love this blue color… especially against the brick. What a cutie pie!
Senior 2009
Ok, so I am loving the brick! We found a new place to shoot… I love it!
Dragon Baseball
He was such a pro at all this posing and didnt even know it!
The Doors
Pretty cool, huh?
Now, I know that I have a few fans out there… so if you are here then leave me a comment or two. Let me know what you think..which was your fave? Come on…. I need some fan mail here… ;-)
~Weather Report~
Funny how I never really thought much about the weather until I have started to depend on it for shooting photography. I have actually become the little weather watcher, which is normally Robert’s job. I still depend on him to give me his weather report. The weather was great this weekend.. a little cool and windy on Saturday then nice & warm on Sunday with a little more wind than we really needed, but was ok. I took the boys with me on Saturday, since I only had one shoot.. they don’t mind tagging along especially if it turns into an adventure for them. And what an adventure it was! We met up with Monica’s family at the Washington Plaza for their family pictures…. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and they dressed the part!
Sunday was spent at Kiroli Park with 3 gorgeous families. Martha and her 2 men were dressed to kill…. They were full of smiles! Jennifer brought her 4 #1 LSU fans for some football fun in the park. Shonda’s family was beautiful… ok so except for Mr. Ross.. he was handsome. Next time, I will certainly have to suggest everyone bring along a pair of walking shoes for the trails that we had to hike down to get to the covered bridge!
~Have a cup~
Yummmy!
Where would I love to be right now?? At home all snuggled up with a nice frothy cup of hot chocolate watching a movie with my groom….especially in this cold, wet & nasty weather! Yes, I am here once again to gripe about this horrible weather we have been having this week. Now I have to say.. I do NOT like cold weather, but I can tolerate it ok if its not wet too. This is sooo cramping my style… I have 6 scheduled shoots Saturday, Sunday & Monday if weather permits and then I am not scheduling anything else until after the New Year. I have been super busy every weekend and some afternoons….I need a break. Not to mention, I have Christmas shopping to finish up, presents to wrap and a 9 year wedding anniversary to celebrate on the 23rd. Hope you all have enjoyed keeping up with me and this wonderful adventure so far. I thought I would pop in to give you all a little mid-week review. Have a great rest of your week!
~Busy, Busy Weekend~
Whew! Not sure about you..but I am glad last week is over with. The weather was crappy! Yep, I am gonna do my spill about the weather…. Rain, cold, hot, mist, rain, COLD, fog and more rain! Saturday was windy and overcast, but the blue sky and sun peeked out a time or two. It was warm….flip flop weather in fact! What alot going on for the last weekend before Christmas at Antique Alley. I was able to enjoy lots of neat sites…including Santa, Rudolph..some elves, dancing, singing and the McGinnis family. These two have been anxious for a few weeks to get this photo shoot done so they could see their pics.. they both LOVE the camera and it showed! What a sweet couple they are….
old time love
Cindy and Brittany met me in the back alley to start out her senior shoot. Cindy and I grew up together playing dress up, hunting for fossils, making cheese dip and just being girlie girls! I guess we were first step cousins by marriage…. ?? Funny, you never forget the good times being young and worry free were. Brittany was up for anything and looked good doing it…she is gorgeous like her mama. Its hard to believe we both have seniors and we are still so young!
Beautiful!
~9 Years and counting~
Young Love
Of marriage that is! It was today 9 years ago that Robert and I left work, went to his mother’s house and got hitched! Yeah exciting, huh? When we finished up there, we went to do some last minute Christmas shopping at K-Mart… wooo hoo! We had tossed around ideas of what/how we were going to tie the knot… I mean, we had both been married a few times between us.. had kids… horrible “ex” issues and a bun in the oven. We really wanted to go to Vegas and get married in one of those “drive thru” chapels… now that would have been really neat!
Drive Thru Wedding
Instead of going to Las Vegas Nevada.. we ended up bringing a Nevada into our world about 9 months later! And about 3 years later, we brought in the caboose Montana… these 2 boys added lots of excitement to our already exciting life.  Dakota, Nevada & Montana are the best things to have ever been blessed with… and my Robert… though many times I have wanted to chop him up in tiny pieces and bury him down by the river… JK (really, I promise!) I love Robert with all of my heart and know that I have many more years to enjoy with him. We are going out of town tonight to “shack up” as he calls it. We will be finishing our Christmas, last minute as we have for the past 9 years. He is not feeling well… stuffy, sneezing, fever, coughing, but I think that is just part of our anniversary getaway… seems one or both of us usually end up sick this time of year.. God love him!
Still in love
~Labor of Love~
Boy, has this week been hectic! Hope you all made it thru the holidays in one piece… I am glad its over with.. Crazy how we wait all year on Christmas and when it finally gets here it just comes and goes so fast! This is my next to the last post for 2008. Jamie is a friend of mine from work… she is expecting a bundle of joy in June. Her first and I talked her into being my guinea pig for my maternity shoot. I will call this gallery “Labor of Love” thanks to Sam’s gift to her for Christmas! He gave Jamie a certificate for a full day at the spa just for expectant mothers. How sweet was that?? They are a really cute couple and I know that things between them are going to get very exciting in the next few months to come! Thanks Jamie… will see you guys again in about a month….we will all get to grow with you!
~Watts Up!~
Callie that is… This was my last shoot of the year and boy was it loads of fun for us all!! It was very windy and really cold…Poor Callie froze her tushy off in the tops she picked out, but she sure looked HOT! She is captain of the cheerleading team at Mangham High School and she is joining the rest of the team at Disney World in February for the National competetion… YAY! She is certainly a natural with the camera and it shows… of course Paula, her mother tagged right along with us… heck, even her brother stayed up with us for a little while. Thanks Callie and Paula for asking me to capture such an important and memorable time in her life… looking forward to it again!
Old time
It was great timing that this old truck was parked out on the streets of Antique Alley and we were given permission to use it for shooting!
Movie Star
Callie knows how to “glam” it up!
Beauty-ful!
Very natural beauty!
Go Dragons!
Callie is definately “pic’d” most glamorous senior of 2009!
~My New Pricing~
Yes my friends, its that time. I have been pretty steady with TwoPeazPhotography for almost 3 months and I have learned lots along the way. While I want to continue making this part time career of mine affordable to everyone interested, I have to consider all the time and effort put into offering you the best possible product of what is considered the most important part of capturing and preserving your memories. Dont worry, I am not going to send you to the bank. I am still trying to work out the best selection of sessions for each category that I am asked to shoot. I will be changing up some of the session selections and what comes in the package that you pay me for. I have started printing collages as requested by some of my best clients and will be adding more print packages for your selection. Keep in mind that I am still learning and since I strongly believe that “the customer is always right”, I will continue to do what I can to accomadate your needs. Please do not hesitate to contact me via internet and/or phone if you have any special requests and/or suggestions that I may not have thought of. As always, I am up for just about anything!
Another important point here that I would like to make is that while I enjoy keeping this blog current with my goings on and sneak peeks of my photo sessions…. I would like to get a little bit of feed back, comments, a hello….just a little something to know that you were here. I would like to think that I have a couple people out there that check in on a regular basis. Go ahead, leave me a comment… let me know I am not just babbling here to myself!! Yes, Mickey… I know you are here and continue to root me on.. and I gotta love ya for that! mmmuuahh!
~Oooh La La!~
Boudoir by TwoPeaz
Because Every Woman Deserves to feel Sexy…
That should be every woman’s mantra! We are entitled to feel sexy, every day! However, life interrupts us and often times we lose sight of how gorgeous we are. We are bombarded daily with images of what beauty is suppose to be and when we feel like we don’t compare then we must not be beautiful. WRONG! We are all beautiful and sexy. Sometimes we just need a little help rediscovering it!
All images are kept in strict confidence and no images will be shown without written permission.
Q&A
What is Boudoir Photography?
Boudoir Photography is a tasteful, classic, beautiful, sexy way for the modern woman to appreciate herself and her body.  Often these images are given as a gift to a significant other, but the gift you give yourself may be even more  valuable.
Do I have to undress and/or wear revealing clothes?
Absolutely NOT… Being sexy does not mean you have to be nude and/or dressed slutty. Being sexy means you being you in whatever makes you FEEL sexy. Or whatever you think he would love to see you in…for example: that cute little tank top and pj bottoms that you think is really cute…or his business shirt and tie with some really cute jeans…maybe its your wedding dress and veil that has been boxed up for a few years.. And it doesnt even have to be full body shots…. waist and/or neck up can be really glamorous to!
Who are these images for?
They are for the bride who wants to give her groom the most unbelieveable gift. They are for the wife and mother of 3 whose husband could use a reminder he married the sexiest woman on the planet. They are for the woman who wants to feel like a supermodel. They are for EVERY woman!
My Policy:
My Policy on Boudoir Images is no full nudity. I will never ask you to pose nude. I work with implied nudity only which means you are covered with either your clothing, your hands, or an object.  I view any nudes as extremely private in nature and will be between you and whomever you wish to share them with.
I’m interested…What’s Next?
If you are interested in booking a boudoir session please contact me and I will send you my Boudoir Information Packet. This contains all the information you will need for your upcoming boudoir session.
Where is the session?
Typically I am an on-location photographer. However, for Boudoir, I have arrangements for a studio setting located in Rayville, LA that will be very private.
Will I be pushed into buying things I don’t want?
Absolutely not, I never push anything on any client of mine. I’ll show you what I offer and then the choice is yours.
But I don’t know how to pose!
Don’t worry, we will guide you through the poses and make sure you look fabulous in them all.
What if I’m not happy with my weight or shape? Should I wait?
No, you don’t need to wait at all. I’m able to ensure gorgeous images with a size 8 body or a size 20 body using clever lighting and various photographic techniques that will flatter your shape. Everyone has their own unique beauty, and that’s what I will bring out in these shoots. I also retouch with softening tools & enhancements using paint shop programs. However, I will NOT alter your photos- They will be “enhanced” in a glamorous style.
How do I know he’ll like them?
Trust me, he’ll like them. Why wouldn’t he like his own private collection of photos of you looking sexy, classy and confident. He will love them! He is a man, trust me…if he enjoys a little sexy picture once in a while, shouldn’t it be YOU?
TwoPeazBoudior
~Getting itchy~
Wow…already into the second week of January. Time just goes by way too fast these days….at least it seems that way the older we get, huh? This is probably the longest I have gone without any photo sessions…haven’t been out since before Christmas…while I am enjoying the break, I am really itching to get back out there. The weather has been so crappy though. But, I am going to enjoy a little free time while I can, because I am looking for some busy times ahead with Spring and baseball season just around the corner.  I am really excited about that!!
Several clients have taken advantage of the Holiday CD on sale for $25.00, so if you haven’t taken advantage yet…there is still time. This is a great way to get the prints you want, when you want them, share them with friends and family or even upload them to your myspace, facebook, blog etc. Not to mention, you will have them in high resolution to keep forever! Also, I have already scheduled a few sessions for the Diva Within, so contact me about your appointment soon!
I am on a roll here with the updates!! Check out the wedding pricing that I have posted on my website TwoPeazPhoto. With weddings for spring and summer being planned, this will give you a starting point on what I have to offer.
Ok…enough with the blah blah blah…. Here are some photos that I took of the little ones while killing some time on our way to a holiday photo session. They tagged along with me that day and enjoyed “practicing” for me! God love my kids….with photography as my main hobby currently, they tend to get used to mama snapping the camera every time they turn around. They are all good sports about it…Even Dakota and Robert.
~What are you waiting for?~
Ok girls…you have thought about it long enough and time is going to be running out if you don’t act soon! This is not about how you look posing half naked..It’s not about how you need to lose that extra 20 pounds or even about getting some color on that skin of yours. Who says you even have to take your clothes off? Someone just mentions “boudoir” and you immediately think nude!! Come on, personally I think a woman looks sexier covered up…its all about how you feel about yourself. It’s about confidence, your smile, a silhouette, your hair falling on your shoulder…the back of your neck…heck, even your FEET! Get yourself a pedicure some really fabulous shoes and let your hair down….
Ok…so I am wondering who gets more out of professional erotic photos– the men who receive them as a gift or the women who give it to their man? When a woman who maybe has some body issues gets to see herself as an erotic being, I’d imagine that gives her a new sense of confidence; in fact, some boudoir photographers say it does exactly that.
Sags, wrinkles, bags, cellulite- they can’t compete with lingerie, soft lighting, the right angle and perfect position with a come hither look. It’s a nice fantasy that I can assure you will be pleased with… (so will he!)
We still have some sessions available. Friday January 16th 6:30, Friday January 23rd 6:30 & 8:30, Friday January 30th 8:30
1 hour session with 2 photographers, 5×5 professionally soft bound memory book, CD with your images & copyright release~ your cost is only $100
~BadaBingBadaBoom!~
Girls just want to have fun! And we did just that, last night…what an imagination us girlie girls can have! Buffie and her sister Kristy met me and Courtney in Rayville last night for a couple of hours of playing dress up. We had 3 suitcases full of feathers, jewelry, shoes, clothes & props…the possibilities were endless. Buffie had the whole “pin-up” girl look from the hair & makeup to her feathery lashes and red nails! Time flies when you are having fun…what we thought would be only an hour turned into 2 hours before we even knew it…We all laughed, nipped, tucked, fluffed, pushed, stuffed, covered, stripped, laughed and fluffed some more! It was so much fun and really looking forward to lots more girlie girl time…
For those of you still thinking about taking the plunge, we still have time available! Take a little peek at what we did with Buffie and get your ideas pumping…I promise you will LOVE it! Oh, and just to show you how much we would love for you to take advantage of this opportunity to be a star…our Boudoir session will only be $75.00!! Even for those of you that booked at $100.00. So, what are you waiting for?
~Give me an inch~
And I will take a mile! A little warmth in the air, some blue skies certainly gave me a chance to get a taste of what I do best… Thanks to my husband, Nevada & Montana. (Dakota was saved by his weekend trip!) I bought this green ladder back chair at Antique Alley before the holidays and I have been anxious to use it. Oh and for some crazy reason, I suddenly got a thing for Sock Monkeys! (thanks Monica & Kyla) I could have taken tons more… but they wouldnt have it. Especially Montana…he was so not impressed with the stupid sock monkey.
COME ON SPRING!!! I am ready for you!
~Shivering Ivy~
Whew!! At last, I had another great photo shoot…This time I had the opportunity to meet little Ivy with her mommy Ashley and daddy Chuck. The weather was nice, but COLD. Poor little Ivy ended up with a red nose and shivering lip. She had a great time, though! Typical of a 16 month old to be a real busy body…sometimes I miss those days…(sometimes!) We started off at Southern Creations… I just love that place. Thanks Cindy! Ivy had the biggest blue eyes and sweet smile…she was a doll. Ashley had her decked out in some really pretty colors!  We headed down to the torn down building where she found some crumbled brick to play with and a few swings in between mommy & daddy that had her laughing! It was wrapped up pretty quick, because she had really started shivering… What a fun time we had and looking forward to getting together again when the weather warms up. Here is a sneak peek, Ashley.  Thanks!
~TaDa…Terry~
Can you believe that I am behind? I know, hard to imagine…huh?
Well, Friday night brought 5 gorgeous girls behind the lens with over 1,000 photos to edit in about 5 hours. I am working as fast and hard as I can to get these completed for Valentine’s. Just to ensure that happens, I am off work tomorrow to get it done! This will be posted in more than one blog….as I finish them. I refuse to get too far behind that I miss getting something posted within the same week….so, here goes!
Terry was a sweetheart to let loose and have some fun with one special person in mind….her husband! He is currently in Iraq and this “surprise” will be one that I know he will cherish very much! Thanks, Terry for allowing me the opportunity to make your night!
AJ's Girl
Here is what Terry had to say….
**Thank you so much for Friday night.  Y’all made it so fun and comfortable being there.  Usually there is NO WAY I would let anyone see me dressed like that, much less take pictures.  It was an awesome time.**
~LaLa LeAnn~
LeAnn is a real sweetheart! Not only is she beautiful, but she takes care of my Robert when he is in Minden. Her husband who works with Robert is currently  in Iraq. She had alot of fun with our girlie session…but not as much fun as I had! I know her hubby will love these glamorous photos as much as she does…. Bringing out the beauty within makes us all feel good. Thanks LeAnn!
~Pretty in pink~
Meet Jamye……She was our “late night special” and special, she was! I have known Jamye for a few years now & this shoot was the first time I had ever met her. Believe me, in person was a whole lot more fun! She is gorgeous and I am certain that her husband will agree when he gets his Valentine’s gift…… he will have something beautiful to take to work with him in Saudia Arabia. His job keeps him away for long periods at a time and this will most definatly be a great way to remind him what he has home waiting for him! Hope you enjoyed your session as much as we did… Looking forward to next time!
~What are little boys made of?~
I know very well what those little boys are made of….I have 3 of them, myself! I just love these “boy mama’s”. These two are the cutest & its no wonder…just look at their mama! The Boley’s had a great time on Antique Alley. We took pictures under the railroad bridge just moments before a train came thru…and boy was that loud! How cool was that?? The weather was beautiful and we were thankful for that!
~Mr & Mrs Big Poppa~
I had the pleasure of shooting Regina & Kevin’s wedding ceremony on Saturday the 7th. The day was beautiful and so was Regina. She chose a rich red dress with shoes to match! Her flowers were simple and elegant….as was her cake. Kevin was handsome and didnt seem nervous at all. Their 3 children were sooo adorable…the girls in matching dresses and Matthew with his big beautiful blue eyes kept me on the move! We took most of the pictures before the ceremony started which was alot of fun and gave perfect lighting with the sun starting to set. The most unusual groom’s cake that I have only ever seen in the movie Steel Magnolias… yes, you’ve guessed it!! Red Velvet Armadillo…..or more like road kill, once it was cut up!! How funny was that??
Anyway…. this was officially my 1st “TwoPeaz” wedding  & I have to say that Regina & Kevin’s special day was “pic’d” most simply southern!
Thanks for letting me capture your happiness….
Regina & Kevin
Line from Steel Magnolias…..Nothin’ like a good piece of ass.
Armadillo
To see more pictures from the wedding, please visit TwoPeazPhoto no password required. I still have about 150 more to get proofed and posted.
~Maryam & Dustin~
Soon to be Mr. & Mrs.! This cute couple met me downtown Monroe to get some engagement snapshots. The weather was great and so were they..especially Dustin. Like most men, he does not care much for the camera….but he was a real trooper! I think he may have even liked the session….He was out side, dressed comfortably and it was quick! Seems I knew exactly the way he liked it…casual, quick and painless. Whew! These two are obviously in love as it shows in both their faces. Maryam was all smiles & he was such a gentleman. Looking forward to shooting her bridals and their wedding coming up in March. Stay tuned for more of these love birds!
~Catching up~
Yes, I am playing catch up & I am almost thru. I hate not having sessions scheduled, but it does give me some down time to get caught up. Of course, I have been off for several days and that always helps. Here are the last of our boudoir sessions for Valentine’s that we had. Bernie & her sister Melissa….they are the sweetest! I worked with Bernie for a few years before she changed careers & I miss her dearly. This was perfect for getting caught up with her and some much needed laughs! She is a hoot and I hate that we don’t get to see each other often enough. Ok, ok I am thru rambling… enjoy them!
They have been “pic’d” sweet & flirty.
~It’s A Boy!~
And his name is Truett….or at least it will be as soon as he gets here. Jamie & Sam’s first and they will be really good parents to this little bundle of joy! She is really growing and he is pretty excited for the big day. Jamie is a sweetheart and is glowing like you wouldnt believe. She makes a really cute pregnant mom with her little “bump”. Things are going good so far and are only going to get better. Here is her second shoot that we incorporated Sam in to & he was a real trooper! The bigger she gets, the more fun we are going to have….its fun to watch her & him as they grow…
~Spring is in the air!~
It’s that time….Spring/Easter mini-sessions.
If you had the chance to get in on the holiday mini-sessions in the fall and want some fresh Spring pics of the kids and/or family, then NOW is the time. Maybe you didnt get to schedule a session for the holidays & want to be sure to get an appointment for this beautiful time of year.. CALL ME!
My first Spring mini-sessions will be on
Saturday March 7th at Sweet Pea’s Flowers & Gifts at 6619 Main Street Winnsboro, Louisiana.
If you are not familiar with Sweet Pea’s, its a quaint little gift shop right off the highway in Winnsboro….they have a beautiful gated courtyard with a concrete fountain, azalias & lush greenery. I plan on having a live white rabbit, Easter baskets and a few other Spring/Easter props that you can incorporate into the photos. Dress your little ones in their Easter outfits, Sunday best or anything cute and comfy. Remember if you want more traditional pictures, then you can go with soft colors and if you want a more bold, different & urban look…try bright colors, mix and match, layer & accessorize!
What if the kids cry? What if I don’t have enough of his favorite toys to make him smile? What if he hugs the Easter bunny, just a little too tight? What if I looked like a complete idiot jumping around behind Missy, doing my best to slapstick a grin out of the poor kids? What if they kids dont sit still in one spot or look at the camera? WHO CARES? Some of the best pictures are of those that show more natural interaction between kids & parents…siblings.
Here are a few tips for getting a really great selection of photos out of your photo session:
  • When meeting the photographer for a session, treat it like a fun game, a special experience to be shared with your child. Talk about who is coming, or who you are going to see; say his or her name so the baby is comfortable hearing it. That way when the photographer shows up, the child is familiar with them and sees them as a friend.
  • Timing also is everything. Plan your little one’s photo shoots when they’re typically in their best mood, rather than during nap times or after a long day.
  • For parents, it’s so important to go with the flow. If a baby or child senses Mom feels uptight about the session, they’ll be more likely to feel stressed too – which unfortunately will reflect in the photos.
  • One of my favorite tricks when photographing babies is to put a sticker on their belly or foot.  They’ll spend a long time trying to get it off, and you’ll get some great candid-looking photos of them playing with their toes and tummies.
  • If you’re headed to a shoot, don’t forget to take a little bit of home with you. Bring a favorite blanket, toy, book or anything else that makes your baby feel more comfortable in their environment. For older babies and toddlers, it doesn’t hurt to bring along a snack as well. I recommends non-staining choices such as dry cereal.
  • OK, the big moment is here. What’s next? First, rid yourself of any preconceived notions. There’s no need to try to fit children into a certain parameter with them always looking into the camera and always sitting up straight. Most of the time, the best photography comes from the unexpected.
~Looking for new places~
And I have most definatley found a wonderful new place! Me and the boys took a little road trip on Saturday down to Winnsboro. Montana has this little book reading incentive going on in his class with Pizza Hut giving away free personal pan pizzas when they read so many books. He had 2 coupons and has been begging me to take him to Pizza Hut to redeem them. We dont get to Pizza Hut very often, but I knew that he had earned his pizzas and I needed to take him. Since I have this Saturday set for Spring sessions, I thought it would be a great idea to head to the Pizza Hut in Winnsboro.. that way, I could check out the town, park & Sweet Peas Gift and Flowers. Let me just say that I could stay in Winnsboro shooting sessions without getting bored! It is absolutely beautiful… Sweet Peas has the most beautiful courtyard with fountain, iron fence, brick steps, trees, benches & blooming bushes! Plenty of photo opportunities there… as well as downtown sidewalks, old buildings, colums, lamp posts & the recreation park with gazebo and park benches. The best part is that full Spring is not even here yet, so there is sooo much more to come! Ok, so there you have it.. my review of the week! I also had a bridal shoot at Beidenharn this weekend that turned out more than 200 gorgeous photos… I am super anxious to get those posted.
Please take advantage of the Spring Mini- Photo Sessions for this Saturday! I will also be scheduling Spring Mini- Photo Sessions for Saturday March 14 and possibly 21st in Monroe/West Monroe.. so stay tuned for more information!
~All Smiles~
Maryam was all smiles and dimples shooting her bridals at Beidenharn Museum & Gardens last Sunday. The weather was a little cool, but sunny & pretty calm….. perfect! My stepdaughter, Hayden came along with me to help out & we all had a lot of fun. Courtney got in on the action & I believe between the 2 of us we got well over 800 photos! That is most definately a must…..LOTS OF PICTURES! Maryam was absolutely beautiful and as always, up for just about anything. It was really funny to watch her struggle in and out of some poses in that fabulous dress of hers. She was a real trooper & very excited about the Big Day! Courtney and I will be shooting her wedding day coverage coming up on March 22nd. Hope you enjoy this little sneak peek!
~Just kidding around… ~
Nevada & Montana came thru for me, again! Heck, even got a shot of CeeCee. We had alot of fun in Alto, Louisiana… just down the road from where we live. Its a beautiful place to drive thru.. just dont blink, you will be sure to miss it. I can only imagine how much prettier it will be in full bloom. The boys always have a great time out shooting and posing for me. Seems we are finding just about anything to get in to. They LOVED the bridge… we are dare devils! Hope you all enjoyed this gorgeous spring weekend… Hey, give me a call to schedule your family spring mini-session!
Oh, leave a comment or two… would love to hear what you think!
~Tulips, tulips & more tulips!~
Just when you think you have seen it all! Check out these beautiful flowers…. tulips, wysteria, iris, larkspurs, alliums, poppies and much more. What a perfect place to have your Spring/Easter photos taken of the kids, family or just whatever! I will be visiting these farms on Saturday March 21st with my own family and you know I will have my camera with me… take advantage of the mini-sessions! Call and/or email me.
If you are coming to the tulip farms and traveling south from the Monroe area, you simply take I-20 East to the Rayville exit. At the Rayville exit, take a right and travel approximately 28 miles through Winnsboro to Gilbert. In Gilbert, make a right hand turn on Hwy 128 and go for approximately 1.4 miles. Then, make a left hand turn on Calhoun Road. Once on Calhoun Road, drive for approximately 2.5 miles and then look for the tulips on the left hand side of the road. That’s it! Or, you can just call Curtis on his cell for directions at 318-348-0141 or 318-724-7444. Please feel free to park your car and make yourself at home and browse around.
~1+1=Three~
Of course it makes sense…. Carvette, Dee & sweet Mackenzie! Carvette & Dee are getting married in September and what better time to get these engagement photos done, before the heat starts to set in. These 3 make a wonderful family & it shows! Carvette has chosen black & watermelon as her colors…how classy & fun that’s going to be. Different, that is what Carvette wants… from the sounds of it, different is certainly what she is going to get! We had this photo shoot at Forsythe Park on Sunday… the weather was cloudy, cool, a little damp…but NO rain! Mackenzie was itching to play, but we had work to do. Hope you guys enjoy your sneak peek!
~What are little boys made of~
Dylan had a great time at the Tulip Farm! Not only did he find tulips, but he found cows, tractor tires & rocking chairs just to name a few things. He watered the flowers, climbed the fence, snacked on his Apple Jacks, fed his baby cousin & just ran around like any other 3 year old boy would. I mean, with the  beautiful spring weather we had on Saturday.. what do you expect?
My mother, sister, Montana, Nevada, Kaycie (cousin), & Sandy (mother-in-law) loaded up in my jeep and we headed to Gilbert to visit the Tulip Farms. We enjoyed our stay and took lots of pictures!
Thanks to Diane (MeMe), Daughter in-law- Denise with Grandson Dylan, Daughter in-law- Lacy with 6 week old Granddaughter Anna for meeting us there for their Spring photos… Here is Dylan’s & I will get Anna’s posted soon!
Dylan has been “pic’d” cutest cowboy on the Tulip Farm!
~Tulip Queen~
Anna was precious! She is my first teeny tiny baby and what a sweetheart! Her mother Denise was busy feeding her while I was running around with Dylan. We just couldnt figure out why she wasnt satisfied with her bottle until MeMe realized that the nipple was clogged with formula and little Anna wasnt getting ANYTHING out! Bless her little heart.. once MeMe fixed it, Anna went to town and let me just tell you, she is one noisy little piggy…. of course I guess I would be too if I was working that hard for nothing! She has the biggest dark blue eyes and was very alert.
Anna was “pic’d” most precious little Tulip Queen!
~Kiroli Wedding~
Maryam and Dustin had a beautiful wedding ceremony and reception at Kiroli Park on March 22, 2009. I posted this awesome couple’s engagement & bridal pictures previously. These two are perfect together and it shows! What a handsome groom Dustin was & Maryam… well, I dont have to tell you how absolutely gorgeous she was! Most of the time, weddings have a couple bumps here and there… rarely does it go completely perfect…. but this one was flawless!! Here is a sneak peek of the big day…. Courtney tagged along with me and together we took close to 1,000 pictures that I have been working on around the clock. I still have about 50-75 more to edit.
Thanks Maryam & Dustin for asking me to share this wonderful day with you!
~little rockstar~
This is the cutest little rockstar I have ever met! I had the pleasure of shooting this sweetheart on Trenton Street/Antique Alley a couple of months ago… Yeah, I know I am a little behind, but hey…Better late than never, huh? Her mama wanted to find some grafitti (sp) something really cute and funky…so we found a little bit on the brick and thanks to technology, I added a little touch.
Alyssa is “pic’d” cutest little southern rockstar!
I guess I am just partial to little boys.. I am a “boy mama” to 3 of those little dirty rascals! Well.. they are not so little anymore, but still so much fun! Meet Carter… he and his mom met me at Forsythe park for a little fresh air! What a beautiful day it was and he was a real sweetheart… didnt fuss a bit! Mama said he was not usually that “good”, but I think she was telling a story.. ;-) They do grow up way too fast and always precious at this age!
Thanks for letting me capture those smiles, dimples, toes & tummy!
Meet Ashleigh….she is from Texas and found me on the World Wide Web… what a wonderful place, sometimes! She was home schooled & missed out on things like proms, class rings, school dances & all the functions that come along with those wonderful 4 years of high school. She was very excited to have her senior pictures done… to have something to send to friends and family. She and her mother recently moved to St. Joseph area, so we met up in beautiful Winnsboro. They were alot of fun to hang out with… Ashleigh had all her outfits and accessories planned out. She has the sweetest smile and I look forward to hanging out with them again!
Ashleigh has been “pic’d” best dressed smile in catfish country!
